St. Luke’s Fairtrade Cafe:
Since September 2008 St. Luke’s has been welcoming visitors to its Fairtrade Cafe. Originally set up to open during the ‘week of mission’ it was decided to keep it running on Monday and Thursday mornings. Since then business has grown steadily.
Angela stewart, the founder and manager of the cafe writes: ‘we have a loyal group of ‘regulars’ and a number of occasional visitors. These have ranged from the St Luke’s photocopier technician to a grandfather who had just driven his daughter from Kent to London in very heavy rush hour traffic and was in need of a strong coffee!
As well as offering freshly brewed coffee, homemade cakes, newspapers and magazines, we also offer fairtrade snacks, fruit, toast and jam, cartons of juice and a large basket of toys. In addition we offer free use of a computer and hope to provide internet access soon. One of our customers put together a photographic exhibition and we hope to exhibit more artwork in future.’
If you haven’t already, why not pay a visit. Mondays and Thursdays 9.00am -12 Noon. Enter through the car park on Fernhead road and turn left once through the main doors.
